As built drawings are those performed according to the present status and differ in this respect from executive drawings. Often, the employer asks the contractor for as built drawings depending on the significance and magnitude of the project at the end of each phase of the project to be used for the execution of the upcoming stages of the project. Reasons behind preparation of as built drawings are as follows:

  • Documenting mistakes that occur during the execution in order to correct the discrepancies between drawings and what has actually been built, or for the correction of the drawings.
  • Problems that occur during the execution that cause what has been done during the execution to turn out to be different from the drawings. That is why as built drawings are prepared after the completion of the stages of the project or after the completion of the whole project.
